Documentation & Help

1   Gettings started...

Always if we are working on websites we're trying to make it as accessible as possible. But there are still a few problems. For example; if you want to download a WordPress theme or javascript script you do not know how it looks or works in Internet Explorer 5.5, Opera 7 and many others, you have to test it yourself... Although most people don't care, I and many others do! So you start VMware (again!) to start Windows XP and test it. The developer of the script probably already took a look at the scripts in these browsers but didn't mentioned it. Would not be nice if he had already showed it in a small list on the project page?

Now... Everyone can easily generate a simple list where the compatibility of scripts, pages, themes in browsers is showed! Is not that great? Start now!

1.1   Why should I use it?

Have you not read the story above this one? Oh, you want more reasons? OK, there we go!

Well, here some reasons:

  1. You help your readers and users which consider to use your script. They do not have to test it themselfs. So you safe your visitors a lot of time! They like that.
  2. Your reader will think: "Hea, he (or she) took the time (about 5 minutes...) to make this simple list.".
  3. It's easy to generate for the developer.

1.2   How to use it?

It is easy:

  1. Fill the name.
  2. Select the options.
  3. Scroll down if you didn't do that.
  4. Click on submit.
  5. Go to the 'Results' on the right side of the page.
  6. Select the piece of code you want to use. Scroll down if you want to use a table.
  7. Simply paste the code into your post/page/whatever you want and publish it.

1.3   How to test my sript/page/template in browsers?

I will write a guide about this later.

1.4   Why are all the recent version of Internet Explorer seperately showed?

Every new build of Internet Explorer has an engine which acts differently from the old build. If you test a site successfully in version 6 your design may still be broken in Internet Explorer 7. That will not fast happen with Mozilla Firefox.

2   About the codes...

2.1   Which one is the best for me to use?

Test them and find out which one is the best for you! You can also select one of the yourBB codes and use it on forums etc.

2.2   licence

The license is very simple: You are allowed to make adjustments in the code of the compatibility tables and lists and you are allowed to use it on commercial sites. But the script will always be open source. It would be nice if you put a link to this site if you used them.

2.3   Is it (x)html valid?

The scripts are HTML 4.0 strict, HTML 4.0 transitional, XHTML 1.0+ strict and XHTML 1.0+ transitional valid.

3   About the site & Melle...

3.1   Why this project?

I wanted to make a simple application with the knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS and PHP I have and to do something what others might consider as 'useful'. And I hope it is to you!

3.2   About & Contact!

Hey, I am Melle. I live in the Netherlands and love it to work with HTML, CSS and PHP. I am learning more and more. You can not contact me yet.
